Can someone please explain why, after 7 weeks of annual leave, on the first week back they have two days teachers training?
Is there an actual reason for this? Why could it not be done during the 7 weeks?

Because local authorities set term dates and then the school have a set number of training/INSET days they can use throughout the year so they normally boltnthese on to the beginning/ end of holidays to make it easier for everyone
Can't imagine it would be easy for teachers to be trained in new areas/learn new things/try to understand what the government has done now to fuck up the syllabus and create more league tables whilst looking after a room of nearly 40 odd feral children

Zammo my other half is an assistant head at an inner city comp. 98% muslim kids, She has a shocking head teacher. he is shit.
When they go back for those training days they talk over new policy that's been introduced and safeguarding and team meetings.
What i have learnt from dating a teacher.
1. they think they have the toughest job in the world 2. they tell you constantly how tough they have it 3. they don't like it when you say nurses get half of what they do, work longer hours, get less holiday and do a job thats more important. 4. most are all gossiping lazy cunts 5. teachers only teach about 20 hours a week, more experienced as little as 12 6. they love telling you how hard it is being a teacher 7. they love telling you how hard it is being a teacher 8. only teachers really understand...... 9. they love telling you how hard it is being a teacher. 10. they dont understand that working between 8am and 4 pm isnt a full time job.
fuck me its great she gets a good salary and works hard but she does not half fucking go on about how tough it is being a teacher.
most teachers would not last a month in the private sector.

My ex is a teacher. I agree with almost all of that.
I'd add expecting a lot of support at home because work is so hard, but with the added twist of not giving two shits about any kind of work problem you may have because it's always trumped by the fact that teaching is the toughest job in the world. And the most important. There's NOTHING more important than educating children- so if anything they should be paid more....
If it was that bad they'd quit and do something else. I think the very generous wages (at least in London), large holiday allowance and very, VERY generous pension go some way to evening up the balance.

Agree completely. I also find a lack of respect for other "jobs" because they're not a vocation. It's like the rest of us are just wasting time.

OTB and El Scorchio i completley agree.
She hates it when i be little thigns when she moans.
My son was in a children's hospital a couple of years back for 3 months. So i say, god it must be so bad earning double those nurses, doing half the hours and having over double their holiday. she shoots back with well they chose to be a nurse and i simply say, you chose to be a teacher, so just appreciate what you have got and stop moaning.
The teaching part is fine, its the other teachers and the managment.
I have said i am going to the press as some teachers take the piss and its tax payers money and they simply allow it.

One of the teachers....
On nearly 50k but will not do the extra work that is required for her to get the uplift from her, should be basic, 40k salary.
Was off work for 6 months with bad back. only day she managed to come in was the day when the head had to go to the house of commons, so she was well enough, only for the afternoon to go down there.
then came back in and went off with stress for 6 months.
Then has now come back and has asked for a pay rise as the results were on target, although she didnt teach any kids.
oh forgot when she was off with stress she was well enough for one day to come in, that was the day for an interview for head of department which she went for. but luckily didnt get.
now she has come back to work, refused to teach any kids other than gcse kids. and in her room has asked for a special chair, she already had one. a chaise lounge so she can rest and relax, and a private screen so she isnt seen when shes relaxing.
This woman has put in complaints about the head, deputy, assistant heads and yet the cunt of a head still bows down to her.....
so much more about her. and thats just one person. can say loads more about others.
why...?
she muslim and form a muslim area and it will be seen bad in the local community.
its a fucking joke.

Well I wouldn't say that you're wasting your time as such, but you have a point.

The biggest problem for teachers these days is dealing with the arsehole parents. They do fuck all with the kids then expect the teachers to work miracles. My wife was a nursery teacher and was regularly confronted with 4 year olds in nappies with dummies in their mouths. Fucking disgraceful

And three different people have told me recently that the worst part of their hospital stay was the noise at night. I assumed it was the other patients but they said it was the nurses chatting and carrying on at the nurses station all night long
